COVID-19 Remote Work Tips
In response to COVID-19 containment efforts, companies across the country are adopting remote work policies. For many organizations, managing a remote workforce is new and unfamiliar territory. Despite the pandemic, cybercriminals won’t stop, and we won’t either. As cybersecurity service providers, we want to do whatever we can to help make your transition from the office to remote work as secure and seamless as possible.

- A dedicated workspace is best when working from home in order to stay focused and keep your work private.
- Use video conferencing to stay engaged with teammates.
- Watch out for browser warnings – this may be an indicator that something is amiss.
- Look for each website’s encryption lock to ensure any data you exchange with the website is encrypted.
- Only download authorized software (check with your IT department if unsure.)
- Watch for phishing emails to ramp up and try to exploit this situation.
- If an email looks like it came from someone you know, validate using another method before taking action.
- If an offer looks too good to be true, it probably is.
- Do not follow instructions to ignore or bypass your organization’s security policies.
- If an email or text contains a message with a sense of urgency, do not take action. Verify with your team.
- If you are on an untrusted wireless network (outside of your office or home), use a VPN to secure your connection.
- Only allow people you trust on your wireless network.
